Las Relaciones Geograficas de Nueva Espana, of the 16th century are scattered in various repositories: Archievo General de Indias, Sevilla; Real Academia de la Historida, Madrid; University of Glasgow, Scotland; and University of Texas, Austin. Of the 170 Relaciones and close approximately 238 maps that make up this corpus of documents, there are a few unpublished pieces; but except for the
attempt by Franciso del Paso and Troncoso, Papeles de Nueva Espana (Madrid, 1905-1906), no other attempt has been made to collect them all into an organic series of volumes. The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), through its Institutes: the anthropological research and philological research, is has taken over this great enterprise. The collection is characterized by its number of volumes, 9 at the printing of this volume. Containing full texts in modernized transcription, directly collated with manuscripts, original, annotated, and accompanied by brief introductory glossaries, maps (some of them colored and folding), and indexes of names and place names.
Condition:
Corners gently bumped. Some light edge wear with some closed tears, some rubbing to jacket else a very good copy in like jacket.
