Antonio de Mendoza was viceroy of New Spain in Mexico from 1535 to 1549. He was born in Granada, Spain, about 1480, and died while still in the service of the Spanish Empire in Lima, Peru in 1552. A forward-thinking man, interested in education, he brought the first printing press to Mexico in 1535. Eager for the exploration and expansion of New Spain to continue, he was responsible for sending out the expeditions of Marco, Coronado, Ulloa, and Cabrillo.
Condition:
Dr Worcester's name on front end paper, corners bumped, rubbing to corners and spine ends, some marginalia, some staining to edges else a good to very good copy lacking jacket.
